Position Description
Position
The Middlebury Lead Energy Navigator will play a vital role in the day-to-day operations and success of the Energy Navigators Program of the Climate Economy Action Center (CEAC) in the town of Middlebury. This position is intended to be full time, but could be filled by two part-time people, dependent on skill set and interest.
Applications will be accepted March 1 or until the position is filled.
Immediate opening. Applications should include a cover letter, resume, three references, and several work samples.
Full time, 40 hr per week position. The Middlebury Energy Navigator position allows for a flexible work schedule, with occasional evening and weekend work expected.
Reports to
The EN Program Director Shannon Bryant will be the main Navigator staff contact.
The Middlebury Energy Navigator will
Serve as chief “navigator” in Middlebury, with expertise in energy assessments, weatherization, electrification, and mechanical systems, as well as familiarity with available funding resources including grant, rebate, tax credit, and repayment programs for different income levels.
Conduct research in the area of clean energy workforce development and contractor education, and develop recommendations for bringing effective models to Addison County.
Develop relationships with local contractors, help develop and maintain preferred contractor lists.
Lead community education events in Middlebury.
Schedule and coordinate home visits, one-on-one coaching sessions, write up reports and plans, and conduct follow-up.
Contribute to the work of supervising and supporting the work of volunteers, including volunteer Navigator coaches.
Assist with gathering necessary materials for grant proposals and grant reports.
The Preferred Candidate will be
Knowledgeable in building science principles, the construction trades, and residential renovation.
Certified as BPI “technician”, or willingness to become certified within 6 months of start.
Experienced in conducting research, writing reports, and developing implementation plans that arise from research.
A proficient communicator with strong written and verbal skills.
Able to work and communicate clearly with a wide range of people, with a special focus on low and moderate income and other underserved populations.
A strong and consistent advocate for local climate action, demonstrating a pleasant yet persistent approach in working to reduce GHG emissions in Addison County.
A self-starter capable of working without direct daily supervision.
Capable of handling tasks in parallel and managing several priorities simultaneously.
Proficient in the use of Excel and Word, e-mail, google suite, Mailchimp, CRM tools (e.g. monday.com), and Zoom.
Proficient with social media, including at least Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Front Porch Forum preferred.
Knowledgeable about Addison County businesses, organizations, housing stock, and geography.
Available to work and meet in Middlebury regularly, and to attend in-person meetings and events around Addison County (hybrid work setting available). Preference for Addison County residence.
Pay and Benefits Package (dependent on skill set and experience)
Employee of CEAC. Full time, 40 hr/week position.
Salary range of $50,000- $65,000, to be negotiated based on skill set and experience.
Benefits include 15 days of paid time off, 7 paid holidays, flexible schedule, and monthly contribution towards health insurance and retirement.
Out-of-pocket expenses covered: mileage, printing, office supplies.
Continuing education/training: Funding towards Building Performance Institute BSP, HHE, Building Analyst Technician (BA-T), or similar certification.
Workers comp., general liability, and general auto liability insurance coverage included.
Bi-weekly timesheet required showing hours worked by task categories, and receipts/tracking for reasonable out-of-pocket expenses.
